The Belmont Solar Challenge

Sustainable Belmont has formed a new committee, Belmont Solar Challenge, which is researching community-based group purchasing for photovoltaic solar systems.  They can be reached at BelmontSolarChallenge@gmail.com.  The Committee’s goal is to make it easier and cheaper for homeowners, nonprofits, and small businesses to find and purchase solar systems to satisfy their electricity needs.  Similar programs have been run through Solarize Mass (available to communities with private utilities), communities with municipal electric companies (like Belmont), and other towns not chosen for the Solarize Mass program.  Belmont Solar Challenge has created a brief, two question survey to guage interest in Belmont.  A good response will help attract solar vendors to the town, so take a minute and fill it out!
